The Gazelle was inspired by the Olympiade, a running shoe from the early 1960s. The first Gazelles were released in 1966 in two versions: a red one for indoor sports and a blue one for training. The Gazelle was the first Adidas shoe to be made with suede instead of canvas or leather.
