The Converse was first released in 1917 and were called "Non-Skids", renamed to the All Star in 1919. The classic high top silhouette featured a rubber sole, cushioned insole, specialised heel and arch support. The diamond tread pattern for improved grip has become one of the iconic All Star signatures.
