In 1992, the New Balance 530 was released. It was originally touted as a high performance running sneaker. The highlight of the 1992 model was the ABZORB heel cushioning. The 530 wasn’t exactly a runaway hit when it hit shelves in the early 1990s. The shoe was able to last though, and has gone back in style, and back again, numerous times since 1992. The Chunky sneaker from New Balance is more of a fashion staple, a casual trendsetter, than it is a runner now. Either way, the shoe has stayed on fashion enthusiast’s radar.
